You can choose whatever exercises you want. It doesn't matter whether it's bodyweight exercises like Combat Conditioning, weight lifting, martial arts katas, or even isometric wall chairs holding for time.
All you do is this. Take a break from work and do a set of any exercise you want every couple of hours. It doesn't matter how many reps you do. Just do one set for reps for each coin you move. Decide for yourself whether you count either reps or a short time limit of continued muscular action - or both.
Doing one set of pushups for a minute for example will not be enough to put you into a big sweat. So, you can go right back to work right after with the renewed oxygen to your brain and muscles. You'll feel the rush and this kind of a break will refresh and benefit you far more than a cup of coffee and your muscles will be recharged as well as be relieved from any pent-up frustrations from work or family matters.
Really, Everyone has a minute, twenty or thirty seconds to exercise at a time. Now there's NO excuses! And by simply taking one coin off the starting pile and paying yourself after the set by putting the coin to a new location will be a motivator for you to add more, and more, and more.
It closely adheres to the saying that you just can't have one!".
When you put a second coin on the pile a few hours later, you're going to feel a sense of accomplishment that check marks on a piece of paper can't come close to equaling - just by paying yourself to workout, you'll be motivated as you see, feel, and move each coin as a symbol of a job well done.
You'll find yourself wanting to keep adding to the pile until you have ALL ten coins stacked on top of each other in the new pile. Stacking all ten coins is like the triumphant stairs Rocky climbs every day - and now you're building your own stairs to success one by one every day.
So, at the end of the day you will have done ten sets of different exercises for short periods of time, set new records, increased the oxygen to your brain and muscles, gotten rid of tension at regular intervals, and you'll feel a sense of accomplish.
Yes, just moving coins will do amazing things to your motivation. You'll feel a sense of accomplishment by stacking new piles each day as silly as it sounds. And, one of the biggest motivators when you're feeling lackluster and unmotivated will be you getting annoyed that you actually haven't completed stacking the coins from one pile to the other.
This may sound juvenile to you, but believe me this tactile accounting for each set represented by money works like you won't believe. It's changed many of my clients lives that I've exposed this to.
For you exercise fanatics, you can also take the coins and put them in to your hardcore workouts when you have plenty of time. Pay yourself ten coins doing three-minute jump rope sets for each coin paid forward.
When you get through that, try doing one more set and quitting. If you're anything like me, you're going to hate seeing that lone coin sitting by itself away from the rest of the stack and immediately you'll want to complete another set of ten!
It's like having a training partner egging you on. Yes, imagine at the then end you've just gotten paid to workout. In reality, you've put something far greater in the bank than money.
