It's touring time again for my wife and I and like the song says, "We're on the road again". Having to prepare to leave for 6 weeks is always a mission. Forgetting one item and it can mean you have to omit an entire section from a show.
I know a lot of you military people out there know what I'm talking about. Just forgetting a simple plug, a connector from the computer to the video camera, a phone charger, etc. can really mess up your plans - big time.
This time we're traveling light 8 pieces of luggage and over 400 lbs. That is in addition to a keyboard, 8 hard drives, 2 computers, 1 video camera, a slew of backup show DVDs, mini disc players, music, and books - those are just in our carry-ons!
Normally in the past, we traveled regularly with 14 huge cases that had to be sent ahead with over two thousands pounds of equipment inside. Each and every item had to be manifested and reported and checked with US Customs. It's hard to convey the nightmares.
Most of the time, we wouldn't sleep for 24-36 hours before leaving just making sure everything was in order before the big truck would come to take it all away. And then as now, there's always the fun and games at the airport to deal with after that.
You can imagine how TSA love looking at all our electronic gear and prying to get me to tell them what my strange magic props do!
Usually, by the time we've arrived someplace we've gotten maybe two hours sleep if we're lucky - like this time. Then on location after we're settled in at the hotel and theater, every prop has to be setup and built, costumes steamed, electrical gear checked, and then on to performing the big shows for thousands of people - giving our absolute best.
Lugging equipment around and being tired can get you injured in a hurry. Letting your resistance get down and getting sick might mean cancellation of a show(which I've only done once in my whole career). It's especially when you're tired mentally and physically that you need to put your elite guard up to protect you from sickness and from hurting yourself physically.
In show business, like many other businesses, "the show must go on" No show means - no pay.
From an early age, my parents instilled in me the idea that there were always more reserves somewhere deep down - if you look for them.
They'd ask me if I wanted to commit to a performance and if I said yes, that was the end of the story. No excuses - not even sickness. Commitments have been made.
To many this might seem extreme for a child, but honoring commitments and learning techniques to dig down deep are lessons that I'm very thankful for that I learned well at an early age from loving parents.
So, performing since the age of three, all my career I've had to pay special attention to bulletproofing myself mentally and physically - to be strong and fit - consistently - day after day, and year after year - no excuses.
When you have to consistently be your best in spite of how you feel night after night, you begin discovering ways to access resources deep inside you. Because of these things, many of the principles of CoreForce Energy have developed out of the necessity to keep me strong and fit consistently.
The combination of training with weights, bodyweight exercises, martial arts, have played an important part for sure - but most of all, having to perform at my absolute best on a regular basis trained my brain to lock on a target with all my resources - no excuses. To me, this is far more important than how many reps and sets one performs of any kind of exercise.
CoreForce Enegy not only gives you ways to find deep reserves of strength and speed inside you, but it also gives you methods to protect yourself - especially when you're tired and where injury could be looming right around the next corner.
Learn to dig deeper and learn ways to help keep yourself injury free with CoreForce Energy.
